The Journey Begins
I took some guitar lessons when I was about 12 years old because I wanted to be in a Rock and Roll band when I grew up.
Unfortunately my teacher was teaching me songs I had no interest in and I quickly grew tired of taking lessons and quit.

These were the pre-internet days and there was no YouTube to turn to. I forgot about the guitar for the next 50 years!
My Ongoing Journey
I retired in 2019 and in 2020 I decided to try again! This time I scoured YouTube but found I had no focused plan and was quickly overwhelmed.
So, I joined Guitar Tricks. It was great but I found I was learning to play songs but not really learning to improvise lead.
I took some in person lessons at a local music store. This time my teacher was teaching me theory and scales which became quite boring. After about a year I quit and went back to YouTube.
Continuing the Journey
This time around I was not going to bounce around from video to video and was determined to focus on learning how to apply theory to guitar.
I took a course online from POW Music to learn my way around the fretboard. It was a 12 week course and covered everything needed to learn the fundamentals to making music. It was the best course which taught me a lot!

I also joined Active Melody to further learn how to learn and play blues, rock, and fingerstyle. They have an active community of guitar enthusiasts.
